Undated (Green Apples + Apple Sauce) = ?
What would you do if you find an almost year-old can of apple sauce sitting nicely in your kitchen cabinet and the last thing you would want to do is study for your exam? Strangely, the apple sauce was bought without a specific purpose. Hmmm... *rubs chin* But when I stepped into Cold Storage, I just grabbed anything that I couldn't find at any ordinary hypermarket. And it's weird that how powerful my mind is to refuse studying during exam period and it would rather program my body to do something else. For example, i chose to play that lousy Snake game on my now-buried-under-six-feet Nokia 3100, simming with "The Sims" with exam-is-tomorrow out of my mind, trying to come out with a strategy on how my troops were going to win on a war in "Emperor", upgrading to "Sims Superstar" and kept my Sims shining, moving on to "SimCity 4" and finally settled with "Sims 2". And i did all those mentioned above just to avoid studying for my coming exam. The disease started since college years and lasted until last year where i had Harry Potter to be my companion. Guess what did i do this time with the apple sauce i found? I used it to bake apple crumble. =.="
Those who had tasted it said it was good while i think it was a bit too sweet for my liking. For the recipe? Hmm... i can't really tell the exact measurement as i'm a person who goes with what my instinct tells. Well, first, of course i had the apple sauce. Second, i was lucky enough to find some green apples lying in the fridge for months and surprisingly they were not even near the word "ROT" yet. Obviously i had to slice the apples to a desirable size and then cooked it with enough of apple sauce to cover all the green apples. Because i added some water to the boiling mixture itself, i still have half a can of apple sauce sitting in the fridge. Proceeded to add cinnamon powder and sugar to taste. For the crumble, the sugar and butter must be the same amount while the flour must be twice as much of each. For 30 minutes and at 400 degrees F, i get a delicious homemade apple crumble with very little hassle.
I had forgotten to take a picture this time. Well, you have to wait for Apple Crumble Take 2 to find out how yummy it is ;) To date, with my cooking and baking skills, i think i am capable of hosting a decent dinner, perhaps a 4-course meal (or more) for a small group of people with one condition that i do not have to do the dishes later on. With that, i'm a happy cook :)
