Last week, i was given the most difficult task: To teach my dad how to type using MS Word. And i failed miserably :(
I taught him the basic of MSWord & Paint. Even demonstrated how to scan by pressing only the "Scan" button.
But he said i was too fast. Then i realised he had purchased a RM27.50 book on how to use MS XP long time ago which i still think is a waste of money. I told my mum, "Ma, i taught my students all these and your husband went to buy a book which kinda insult my intelligence." Well, i looked through the book and found out he can only refer to 3 chapters with all explaining instead of giving out instructions on how to operate MSWord. Four words: Lousy and cheat money! In the end, i created a template for him which i THOUGHT would make things easier.
"Pa, since your notes are all in a similar form, i've created a template for you. Just modify things that you want to change in the template but remember to save your document as a different name"
"What is a template?"
*AIYAAAAAA!*
I paused and stared at my dad's face
"Harh?! It's... it's... Er, errrr................. You just delete the existing word and type what you want inside the boxes i've created larh..."
"You must know that i don't understand all these. Template la, icon la. That's why i'll read the book once i'm free."
"Ok, you come here, i'll show you the template."
My dad continued to ask me a few questions which i gave the same answer. =.="
Again, he asked me,"What is a template?"
OMG! I thought i just showed him.
"It's..... it's..... it's like a... arrrrrr....ummm.."
"Like a...hmmm..."
"Ahhh!!!!!
"MOULD!"
"Ohh..."
Thank God... Although i don't think "mould" is the right word but at least he understands now. All these while, I thought template and icon are common English words. My dad proved me wrong. But it's okay. At least i don't feel useless about wasting my time studying I.T anymore. There are people out there who need people like me. Heh!

teaching required good patient isn't it? :)
same thing here, sometime my dad would be quiet piss off when i said, "this is very easy thing". because he think it's pretty hard for him to pick up..
hehe, well, sometime it's fun to teach your dad/mom, because you will see them like a guai guai student listening to you ;)
the only thing is we don't have to carry carrot & stick
